Josephine Wright

    Dr. Wright is an adult and child psychiatrist board certified by both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and theAmerican Board of Child Psychiatry and Neurology. She is also a practicing psychoanalyst certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association and on the faculty of the New York Psychoanalytic Institute and the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute, where she was a founding member. Dr. Wright practices psychiatry and psychoanalysis with adults, adolescents and children at offices located in New York City and Sharon, Connecticut. Her medical training took place at the University of Western Australia, where she won the Burroughs Wellcome prize in preclinical sciences and the Pharmacology prize, and the University of Melbourne, where she was awarded the M.B., B.S. degree and her psychiatric training took place at the Albert Einstein Medical School, at Montefiore Hospital, where she was the Chief Resident in Psychiatry and the winner of Housestaff of the Year award, the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and the Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Center and her psychoanalytic training was completed at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute. She is a member of the Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the International Psychoanalytic Association, the American Psychoanalytic Association, theAmerican Association for Child Analysis, the New York Council on Child Psychiatry and Physicians for Social Responsibility.

    She has published psychoanalytic papers in the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, in the Psychoanalytic Study of the Child, the Journal of Clinical Psychoanalysis and in the International Review of Psychoanalysis, now part of theInternational Journal of Psychoanalysis. She consults to various New England preparatory schools as well as New York City private schools and is the author of the book, Do We Really Need Ritalin: a Family Guide to A.D.H.D., published by Avon books in 1997.
